We need Godly men in the Church.
It is not God's will that the pews are full of ladies whose husbands are home in bed.
God wants men to take their place as spiritual heads of the family. Spiritually mature men must shepherd, teach and train those men that are babes in the faith.
Young men are looking for mentors. They are looking for a mentor in the faith.
The elder men in the faith must impart faith, teach faith, and lead by the power of the Holy Spirit. Let the younger generation see the power of the Holy Spirit in your life.
Let the younger generation see you don't have to be a wussy to follow Christ.
Lead by example.
Teach out of love.
Move in the power of the Holy Spirit.

Sound Doctrine
Titus 2:1 (Amplified Bible) 1BUT [as for] you, teach what is fitting and becoming to sound (wholesome) doctrine [the character and right living that identify true Christians].
What is sound doctrine?
Jesus, the Cross, and the Holy Spirit.
Jesus is the source, the Cross is the means and the Holy Spirit is the power for every believer to have victory.
Jesus lived the perfect sinless life and became our substitute sacrifice at the Cross.
At the Cross the New Covenant was cut. Through Jesus' shed blood we have redemption, victory, healing, prosperity, peace, and on and on it goes.
By placing our faith in the finished work of Christ the Holy Spirit has legal means to work in our life. The Holy Spirit empowers us to live the overcoming life and to enforce Christ's victory over Satan in our life.
Once we are born again we can now ask Jesus to baptize us in the Holy Spirit which will give us more power than we could ever know. The gifts will flow through us to a lost and hurting world as the Spirit wills. The initial evidence will be a supernatural prayer language.

Decieving Preachers
Titus 1:12-16 (New King James Version)12 One of them, a prophet of their own, said, “Cretans are always liars, evil beasts, lazy gluttons.” 13 This testimony is true. Therefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith, 14 not giving heed to Jewish fables and commandments of men who turn from the truth. 15 To the pure all things are pure, but to those who are defiled and unbelieving nothing is pure; but even their mind and conscience are defiled. 16 They profess to know God, but in works they deny Him, being abominable, disobedient, and disqualified for every good work.
Again, the Holy Spirit, through Paul is strongly coming against false ministers and false doctrine.
Why?
Because a little leaven spoils the lump.
There are untold millions of Christians every week that tune into certain preachers. They tune in not because they are anointed ministers but because they make them feel good.
They are not learning the Word. They are not learning Jesus.
They are learning pop psychology mixed with new ageism. This is not going to help anyone. In fact, it could lead many to hell.
Friend, anyone that does not teach Jesus Christ, the Cross and the Holy Spirit is not preaching the Word.

Sometimes Negative Is Positive
Titus 1:10-11 (Amplified Bible)10For there are many disorderly and unruly men who are idle (vain, empty) and misleading talkers and self-deceivers and deceivers of others. [This is true] especially of those of the circumcision party [who have come over from Judaism]. 11Their mouths must be stopped, for they are mentally distressing and subverting whole families by teaching what they ought not to teach, for the purpose of getting base advantage and disreputable gain.
This is pretty strong language, don't you think?
But, sometimes we must be strong. There are wolves in sheep's clothing that will destroy Christians with their false teaching.
The sheep must be warned.
"But, Mace I don't like to be negative. I don't want to rock the boat."
Friend, what is more negative warning against false preachers and doctrine or allowing someone's life to be wrecked because they are following the latest Christian fad which has no Christ in it at all?
Friend, Jesus, the Word, and the Holy Spirit should be foundation of every ministry. Just because they are mentioned a few times does not make them a foundation.
Beware of those that focus on self. Self is the problem. Jesus is the answer. The Holy Spirit is the power.

JUST PREACH THE WORD
Titus 1:9 (Amplified Bible)9He must hold fast to the sure and trustworthy Word of God as he was taught it, so that he may be able both to give stimulating instruction and encouragement in sound (wholesome) doctrine and to refute and convict those who contradict and oppose it [showing the wayward their error].
The Holy Spirit, through Paul, is again dealing with Pastors.
Notice, a Pastor is to hold fast the Word of God. The Word. The Bible.
I am convinced that if all those in the five fold ministry would just teach the Bible and not the latest Christian best seller we would have a changed church.
If ministers were more concerned about the preaching the Word in the power of the Holy Spirit and quit worrying about whether the Sunday morning crowd can handle it we would have a changed church.
Friend, a changed church leads to a changed city.
A changed city leads to a changed state.
A changed state leads to a changed nation.
A changed nation leads to a changed world.
This is not going to happen with a great marketing plan. This not going to happen by feeding meat only to the Wednesday night crowd.
This is gong to happen when Pastors preach the Word with the power of the Holy Spirit each and every service.

Pastor's II
Titus 1:7 (New King James Version)7 For a bishop[a] must be blameless, as a steward of God, not self-willed, not quick-tempered, not given to wine, not violent, not greedy for money,
The Holy Spirit now gives us the qualifications for a Pastor:
1) Blameless - this can only come about by the blood of Jesus. It is faith in the finished work of Christ that makes a Pastor or layman blameless. It is all in the blood.
2) Not self willed - In the Greek it means stubborn, headstrong, unfeeling
3) Not quick tempered - Not a hothead. A Pastor should be ruled by the Spirit and not the flesh.
4) Not given to wine
5) Not violent
6) Not greedy for money - Prosperity is due the Pastor but is not the motivation for being a Pastor.

Pastors
Titus 1:5-6 (King James Version) 5For this cause left I thee in Crete, that thou shouldest set in order the things that are wanting, and ordain elders in every city, as I had appointed thee: 6If any be blameless, the husband of one wife, having faithful children not accused of riot or unruly.
Paul is now beginning to give us the qualifications for Pastors.
They should be the husband of one wife. Now, tells our Catholic friends it is okay for a Priest to be married. On the flip side, some denominations use this scripture to disqualify those that have been divorced from entering ministry.
This should not be necessarily so. The Lord does not hold one accountable if they have been abandoned. The Lord also does not hold one accountable for what happened prior to being saved.
What the Holy Spirit is stating here is that a minister should not be a polygamist. A minister should be married to one woman, be faithful to that woman, and love her as Christ loves the Church.

Preaching vs. Schemes
Titus 1:3-4 (New King James Version)3 but has in due time manifested His word through preaching, which was committed to me according to the commandment of God our Savior;4 To Titus, a true son in our common faith: Grace, mercy, and peace from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ[a] our Savior.
There is a movement among certain church circles to do away with preaching. They have coffee meetings, plays, or video presentations. Their thinking is that times have changed and the church must keep up with the times. They believe people must have entertainment to draw people in.
What happened to the Holy Spirit drawing people?
There is nothing wrong with taking advantage of modern technology. The Word For The Day is an example of doing so.
However, the Church should never keep up with times at the expense of God's Word. His ways do not change. His laws are still active.
And the preaching of the Gospel is His program of reaching the lost and Church alike. There is nothing as powerful as sitting under an anointed preacher preaching the Word.

Diserning Truth
Titus 1:1 (Amplified Bible) 1PAUL, A bond servant of God and an apostle (a special messenger) of Jesus Christ (the Messiah) to stimulate and promote the faith of God's chosen ones and to lead them on to accurate discernment and recognition of and acquaintance with the Truth which belongs to and harmonizes with and tends to godliness,
Paul was called by God and anointed by the Holy Spirit to bring the message of the Cross to the lost and to the Church.
I want you to notice that Paul states that he is called to lead them on to accurate discernment and recognition of and acquaintance with the Truth.
If one can have an accurate discernment of the truth then one can have an inaccurate discernment of truth. Obviously, there were those that were not preaching the truth. Otherwise, Paul would not have to teach them to discern from truth and non truth.
You and I have the Word and the Holy Spirit. It is so important that we sit under teaching and preaching that teaches the whole counsel of God. Whatever is taught from the pulpit must be in line with the Word of God and confirmed by the Holy Spirit.

Paul was called by God and anointed by the Holy Spirit to bring the message of the Cross to the lost and to the Church.
I want you to notice that Paul states that he is called to lead them on to accurate discernment and recognition of and acquaintance with the Truth.

Will and Every
2 Timothy 4:18-22 (New King James Version)18 And the Lord will deliver me from every evil work and preserve me for His heavenly kingdom. To Him be glory forever and ever. Amen! 19 Greet Prisca and Aquila, and the household of Onesiphorus. 20 Erastus stayed in Corinth, but Trophimus I have left in Miletus sick. 21 Do your utmost to come before winter. Eubulus greets you, as well as Pudens, Linus, Claudia, and all the brethren. 22 The Lord Jesus Christ[a] be with your spirit. Grace be with you. Amen.
Notice two very important words in verse 18: will and every.
Paul knew who His God was. He knew the power of the Word and the power of the Holy Spirit.
Let us grasp the truth of the Word.
The Lord WILL deliver you and I from every hell inspired attack of Satan. We are God's kids. He loves and paid a tremendous price to adopt us. Do we really think he would let us not be victorious?
Do you really think it is His will for you to be diseased, sick and tired? The blood of Jesus was shed so you would be healed, healthy and strong!
His blood did not buy partial redemption. No, it redeemed you from EVERY curse of the law and EVERY demonic attack.
So, don't buy the lie of the devil that WILL and EVERY are not words meant for you. The devil is a liar and there is no truth in him.
Stand on the truth and victory is yours.

The Lord Is With You
2 Timothy 4:17 (New King James Version) 17 But the Lord stood with me and strengthened me, so that the message might be preached fully through me, and that all the Gentiles might hear. Also I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion.
If you recall, yesterday Paul told how no one came to his defense when he was put on trial. Today, he provides the answer to every believer that may feel abandoned while completing their God given assignment.
When you are alone, when you feel abandoned, when no one seems to catch your Holy Spirit vision take heart. God is with you!
God Himself is standing with you. The Holy Spirit is supernaturally strengthening you.
The Holy Spirit is delivering you out of every obstacle hindering you from completing your assignment and He is placing you into total and complete victory!

Your Assignment
2 Timothy 4:16 (Amplified Bible)16At my first trial no one acted in my defense [as my advocate] or took my part or [even] stood with me, but all forsook me. May it not be charged against them!
There will be times that you will stand alone while seeing your vision through. There will be times when it seems as all friends and family have forsaken you.
Sometimes these feelings are legitimate. Other times they are an illusion perpetuated by Satan.
Whatever the legitimacy of the emotion we cannot allow Satan a foothold through bitterness and unforgiveness.
Even if you are alone in the natural the Holy Spirit is still with you. Praise God.
Don't allow emotions to throw you off of completing the assignment God has given you. The God who gave you the assignment will make sure you accomplish it.

The Word For The Day July 8
2 Timothy 4:14-15 (New Living Translation) 14 Alexander the coppersmith did me much harm, but the Lord will judge him for what he has done. 15 Be careful of him, for he fought against everything we said.
Sometimes ministers must call names. It is not a popular thing to do. But, Paul gives us the example on why to do so.
Paul called out the name of Alexander not out of malice. Rather, he did it to warn those under his care against falling under Alexander's influence.
The Church today is under attack from without and from within. There is apostasy within the Church and minister's of the Gospel are duty bound to warn those assigned to them of false teachers and ministries that will do them harm.
It is not being negative.
It is not being mean spirited.
It is being a good shepherd to protect the sheep.

The Word For The Day July 7
2 Timothy 4:9-13 (New King James Version)9 Be diligent to come to me quickly; 10 for Demas has forsaken me, having loved this present world, and has departed for Thessalonica—Crescens for Galatia, Titus for Dalmatia. 11 Only Luke is with me. Get Mark and bring him with you, for he is useful to me for ministry. 12 And Tychicus I have sent to Ephesus. 13 Bring the cloak that I left with Carpus at Troas when you come—and the books, especially the parchments.
We learn three things in these scriptures:
1) There are going to be those that will abandon us due to our walk with Christ. Those that are friends and family will often choose the world over Jesus. We cannot let this dissuade us from our assignments. Pray for them and love them. Let the Holy Spirit do His work while we do ours.
2) Those that share our God given vision will be few compared to the vast majority. But, do not fear. God will always put those in your path that embrace your assignment. He will supernaturally bring into your life those whose assignment is to help you accomplish your assignment.
3) The Word is paramount in the believers life. The books Paul is asking for in today's verses are the scriptures. You will never be able to stand against the attacks of Satan, the onslaught of the world, and all that oppose the Word if you don't have the Word in you. Feed on it. Speak it. Act on the Word.
